Step by Step anything is possible
Isn't continuous improvement just unbelievably rewarding? Of course if our organization doesn't improve, we are deteriorating, but the change doesn't always need to be big at the time to keep the progress rolling.

These ladder pictures are so dear to me that I just have to dedicate one page just for them and to the beauty of small steps.

Small or big steps
We -you- deserve to get full benefit of the the work and resources that have been put into any improvement. Challenges are there to be solved, but sometimes the change is a success and other times not. Quite often there is difference if we try to do big change at one magic wand swing or progress small step after another.

Small improvements are easy to accomplish even every day and easy to take, they are also easier to stick to organization. Big changes on the other hand have many times bigger resistance and are sometimes (many times?) too hard to get fully done and even when they are quite ok, they may be forgotten or rejected at some point.

But are small steps appreciated enough? Many times not.

Why is it so?
That is a good question.
I like the comparison from Simon Sinek's Infinite game (recommendation to read). Some people and some organizations as organizations are a collection of people like to focus heavily to the goal with just couple leaps. Some other people focus and even love the long term change and so they play infinite game. Perhaps there is one difference which lead to peace and possibility to enjoy the consistant small steps.

That's not the answer, but I could not resist of bringing up, because there is always someone influencing if the small steps are appreciated.
Perhaps the small steps are just easier to comprehend, easier to commit, doesn't require so much will power or energy.

Sometimes it is good to take even so small step that it happens almost by itself. Why would you not take that if it takes you an inch towards the ultimate goal?
